The Operator Mindset Guide

Before you touch a single tool, get the mindset right first.

It's easy to jump into AI tools before you know how to operate them. This free guide gives you the 15 principles that separate operators who compound results from operators who keep starting over.

  1. 01

    One thing at a time

LLMs dilute attention across multi-part requests. One clear task gets full coherence on that task.

    Within your control

  2. 04

    Fluency isn't accuracy

Confident, well-written output isn't the same as correct output. Verify anything factual, numeric, or client-facing.

    Catch it early

  3. 07

Write a brief, not a request

Context → Goal → Constraints → Format. The more senior the output you want, the more senior the brief you write.

    Within your control

  4. 15

    Your judgment IS the product

AI cannot replicate your domain expertise, your ethics, or your instinct for when something is wrong.

"The most valuable person in the age of AI agents isn't the one who builds them. It's the one who knows how to run them."

What's inside the free guide

15 principles. Zero fluff.

  1. 01

    Within your control

    One thing at a time

LLMs dilute attention across multi-part requests. One clear task gets full coherence on that task.

  2. 02

    Within your control

You're onboarding a new hire every session

There's no continuity between sessions unless you build it. Brief it like a smart temp, every time.

  3. 03

    Within your control

    Reviewer over prompter

Your value is in judgment, not generation. Compounding good outputs beats regenerating mediocre ones.

  4. 04

    Catch it early

    Fluency isn't accuracy

Confident, well-written output isn't the same as correct output. Verify anything factual, numeric, or client-facing before it leaves your hands.

  5. 05

    Within your control

    Build on the chat

Starting a new chat is like firing your most informed team member. Context compounds.

  6. 06

    Within your control

The devil is in the details

Memory architecture determines whether agents compound intelligence or reset to zero each run.

  7. 07

    Within your control

Write a brief, not a request

Context → Goal → Constraints → Format. The more senior the output, the more senior the brief.

  8. 08

    Within your control

Tell it what NOT to do

Exclusions force the model off autopilot. One constraint sentence can transform output quality immediately.

  9. 09

    Catch it early

    The smell test

If the first paragraph is off, the whole output will be. Intervene early. It saves the whole run.

  10. 10

    Within your control

    Manual before automated

You can't evaluate what you've never done. Manual first builds the judgment to supervise.

  11. 11

    Within your control

    Build checkpoints in

Human review gates mid-workflow catch drift before it becomes a disaster you have to undo.

  12. 12

    Judgment call

    Not everything should be automated

Ask what happens if this runs unsupervised and is wrong. If the answer is "a real problem," that's a human-in-the-loop process, not a full automation.

  13. 13

    Within your control

Watch for bias, not just errors

An output can be factually correct and still be skewed. Auditing for bias is a distinct check from auditing for accuracy.

  14. 14

    The long view

Treat AI use like a budget line, not a free utility

Every agent you run has a real cost: compute, tooling, your oversight time. Track it like any other line item.

  15. 15

    Your edge

    Your judgment IS the product

AI cannot replicate your domain expertise, your ethical compass, or your instinct for when something is wrong.
